Police Urging Residents of West Hollywood to be On-Guard After Assaults

Following a number of recent assaults, LAPD and Sheriff deputies are urging residents of West Hollywood and the Fairfax District to be on alert.

The first assault took place on Tuesday at approximately 12:30 PM on the 800 block of North Vista Street near Melrose Avenue. According to the police, a woman was pushed into a garage but was able to escape from the suspect. The LAPD has said that the suspect was going to sexually assault the woman.

The next incident took place approximately 15 to 20 minutes later in the city of West Hollywood on the 7600 block of Hampton Avenue. In this incident, a woman was pushed into her apartment. She screamed and the suspect took off on foot.

The first assault was captured on surveillance video.

Detectives working on the case describe the suspect as a homeless man in his early 30s. He was wearing dark clothing and was carrying a bag at the time of the attacks.

As of writing, no arrest has been made.
