Firefighters in Orange, California had their work cut out for them in the early morning hours of Wednesday as a massive fire tore through an industrial complex where foam products are manufactured.
The fire began shortly after midnight, when an employee noticed smoke coming from a storage unit where foam was stored. Although he and other employees attempted to contain the blaze until firefighters arrived, they weren't successful, says Orange County Fire Authority Captain Ryan O'Connor...
"It spread to the rest of the foam," O'Connor says, adding that foam is highly flammable and difficult to extinguish. "It was very intense. A lot of head, a lot of smoke."

A plume of smoke was visible for miles around as a large number of firefighters battled the rapidly-spreading fire, according to witnesses.
Although crews finally put out the main fire at about 2:30 a.m., they were on the scene for several more hours, extinguishing small fires and cooling down hot spots, O'Connor says.
