Couple Killed in Shooting Had Altercation in West Covina Apartment

WEST COVINA (CNS) - Police said today that two people killed in a Christmas Day shooting at an apartment in West Covina were ``in a dating relationship'' and were involved in an altercation with one another prior to the gunfire.  

Officers with the West Covina Police Department were called to the 2600 block of South Azusa Avenue at about 12:50 p.m. Saturday on reports of the shooting and found a 41-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman suffering gunshot wounds.  

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died. Their names were not released.  

Two children who were inside the home at the time of the shooting were taken into protective custody and were later released to family. They were not injured in the shooting.  

The children's relationship to the man and the woman was not released.  

It was not immediately known who fired the gun. An investigation into the shooting was ongoing.
