SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 29-year-old man was charged with an alcohol- fueled crash that killed a woman in Seal Beach.

German Juarez of Los Angeles was charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated without gross negligence, two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and one count of driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level greater than the legal limit of .08%, according to court records.

He also faces sentence enhancements for allegedly inflicting great bodily injury on two victims.

The collision occurred at about 3:40 p.m. Thursday at Seal Beach Boulevard and St. Andrews Drive, near the Leisure World retirement community, according to Lt. Nick Nicholas of the Seal Beach Police Department.

Orange County Fire Authority paramedics were called to the scene and rushed three people to a hospital for medical treatment. Both drivers were taken to a hospital, along with a passenger.

A woman who had been driving one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the hospital, Nicholas said. She was identified on the criminal complaint as Guadalupe I. Nicholas did not immediately respond Tuesday to a message asking for the victim's full identification.

Juarez suffered minor injuries, Nicholas said.

The passenger, whose description was not provided, suffered what was only described as non-life-threatening injuries, he said. It was unclear in which vehicle the passenger had been riding.

The criminal complaint alleges Juarez had a blood-alcohol level of .15% and failed to stop at a red light.
