Sheriff’s Detectives Assisting Redondo Police in Shooting Investigation

REDONDO BEACH (CNS)- Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives were assisting the Redondo Beach Police Department early today with the investigation of a fatal shooting of a shooting suspect at the  Redondo Beach Pier.

The shooting by Redondo police occurred at 8:21 p.m. Wednesday after officers received multiple calls about a suspect shooting at people on the pier, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriffs Information Bureau.

The suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was shot by police near a rock embankment near the beach where he had fled, Koerner said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or submitted online at lacrimestoppers.org.
