'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' Holds Top Spot at Box Office

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The force is strong with “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,”which held its spot atop the North American box office in its third weekend in theaters, taking in another $33.7 million, according to industry estimates released today.

The latest film in the iconic science fiction franchise has grossed a total of $450.8 million domestically, Comscore reported.

“Jumanji: The Next Level” was second for the third straight week, grossing $26.5 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, according to Comscore.

“Little Women” was third for the second straight week with $13.6 million, followed by “The Grudge,” which opened at $11.3 million and edged out “Frozen 2” with $11.29 million.

Rounding out the 10 top-grossing films of the weekend were `Spies in Disguise” ($13.2 million), “Knives Out” ($9 million), “Uncut Gems” ($7.8 million), “Bombshell” ($4.1 million) and “Cats” ($2.6 million).
