High Speed Chase Ends After Police Use Rubber Bullets

A routine traffic stop turned into a high speed chase that ended when police used rubber bullets on a 27-year-old carjacking suspect. Video of the dramatic arrest at the end of a pursuit in Long Beach is going viral.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle about 10 pm Wednesday night according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The male driver fought with police, during which the suspect allegdly took an officer's gun and fled. The officer was not injured in the scuffle.

Investigators say the man carjacked a vehicle, setting off a chase that eventually ended in the area of 7th and Martin Luther King Avenue. When the suspect eventually pulled over, a police standoff began.

Eventually, the suspect exited the vehicle, turning toward officers with his arms crossed. That's when police opened fire with the less-than-lethal rounds, forcing the suspect to the ground. He was later transported to a hospital for treatment of non-lethal injuries.
