Escaped Horse Forces Plane To Turn Around

A flight from New York City to Belgium was forced to turn around after a horse got loose.

  • The Boeing 747 operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic contacted Air Traffic Control telling them a horse had gotten loose in the cargo hold and could not be secured.
  • The plane was able to return to JFK Airport, where pilots requested veterinary assistance. The plane took off again about three hours later.
  • No passengers were aboard the cargo flight.
