Justice Department Will Appeal Lifting of Mask Mandate

The Justice Department will take action to appeal a Florida judge's decision to end the mask mandate for public transit.

The DOJ will only take action if the CDC believes the mandatory is still necessary. They have openly spoke out by disagreeing with the judge's decision.

"If CDC concludes that a mandatory order remains necessary for the public's health after that assessment, the Department of Justice will appeal the district court's decision,"

The CDC said it still recommends individuals continue to wear masks. A statement read:

"We will continue to assess the need for a mask requirement in those settings, based on several factors, including the U.S. COVID-19 community levels, risk of circulating and novel variants, and trends in cases and disease severity,"

A few days back when Biden was asked about the mask mandate and if people should continue to wear masks, he responded by saying:

"That's up to them."

It will be interesting to see what happens next. If the DOJ decides to appeal the lifting of the mask mandate, will the mask mandate be reinstated? Only time will tell.
