No More Neutrality: Switzerland Freezes Russian Assets

Ending its long-standing policy of remaining neutral, Switzerland on Monday vowed to help Ukraine by freezing Russian assets.

  • Swiss President Ignazio Cassis says the assets of President Vladimir Putin, as well as 369 other Russian officials, are no longer accessible. He says Swiss officials decided to make the move -- and break their neutrality policy -- because of Russia's "unprecedented" attack on Ukraine.
  • Switzerland has also joined the rest of the European Union in banning Russian aircraft from its airspace, Cassis reveals.
  • If the rest of the world is against Russia's invasion of Ukraine, why aren't more countries helping out?
