Lego Unveils Brick Prototype Made from Recycled Plastic

Lego is getting closer to making its products from sustainable material.

With 2030 as its goal, the toy company is unveiling a prototype that is made entirely from recycled plastic.

According to the work they've done, a one-liter plastic PET bottle can give enough raw material for at least ten 2 x 4 Lego bricks.

Lego's Vice President of Environmental Responsibility, Tim Brooks said:

"The biggest challenge on our sustainability journey is rethinking and innovating new materials that are as durable, strong and high quality as our existing bricks -- and fit with LEGO elements made over the past 60 years."

As cool as this is, Lego says it will still be a while before these bricks hit the shelves.
