SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 21-year-old man out on bail in two other cases was charged today with attacking his pregnant girlfriend in front of her children and threatening to kill a roommate in Anaheim.
Henry Teran was charged with single felony counts each of attempted murder, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, corporal injury on a cohabitant, child abuse and endangerment, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, criminal threats, and misdemeanor counts of battery and violating a protective order. He faces sentencing enhancements for committing a crime while out on bail in another case, personal use of a firearm and gang activity.
Teran is accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend in front of her children on Sunday, said Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer. The victim in the attempted murder charge is the unborn child, according to court records.
He is accused of threatening the roommate on Saturday, Carringer said. He allegedly brandished a firearm at the roommate, Carringer said.
At the time of the alleged attack, he was out on bail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell -- both felonies -- as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and altering a marking on an imitation gun or device, according to court records. The alleged assault in that case happened May 23 and Teran pleaded not guilty June 1.
He is also charged with a felony count of criminal threats and a misdemeanor charge of brandishing a weapon in a case dating back to Jan. 30, according to court records.
