The former CEO of Make-A-Wish Iowa has admitted to embezzling tens of thousands of dollars in funds meant to help terminally ill children.
In a written guilty plea submitted to an Iowa judge this week, 40-year-old Jennifer Woodley said she used a Make-A-Wish credit card for a series of unauthorized purchases after becoming president of the local chapter in 2019. The purchases, which were made over a 10-month period, amounted to more than $23,000, according to prosecutors.
But that's not all she did...
Woodley also admitted to giving herself a number of unauthorized raises and bonuses, prosecutors say.
As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors are expected to request a sentence of five years' probation and repayment of the stolen money.
