INDUSTRY (CNS) - A man riding a bicycle on the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway in Industry was struck by several vehicles and killed, and some lanes of the freeway were closed for more than four hours before reopening this morning.
The man was riding westbound in the eastbound lanes near the center divider, just east of Santa Anita Avenue, when he began riding northbound across the freeway and was struck by a vehicle in the No. 2 lane about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man was immediately struck by three additional vehicles, and came to rest in the No. 2 lane, the CHP said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
All drivers remained at the scene and no other injuries were reported, the CHP reported.
All lanes of the freeway were closed for about an hour and traffic was diverted onto Santa Anita Avenue. The No. 5 lane of the freeway was reopened about 9:20 p.m. The No. 4 lane of the freeway reopened a short time later, and all other lanes of the freeway reopened about 12:30 a.m.
