@DarkSecretPlace - Why Dolly Parton's Commercial Angered a Local Politician

Dolly Parton vs CA Assembly Woman Lorena Gonzalez

Super Bowl commercials are often the best part of the entire broadcast (this year was no different). Most people chime in on the commercials that have brought out some sort of emotion, such as laughter, tears, joy, etc.. Considering how many people are watching the event, companies do their best to play off of those emotions. Anger is not an emotion generally associated with Super Bowl Commercials. Until now.

CA State Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez (80th District) expressed outrage over a commercial for the website hosting company Squarespace, featuring a parody of the Dolly Parton classic, "9 to 5."

Gonzalez, who authored AB5, a controversial piece of legislation impacting the CA gig economy, took exception to the fact that Dolly Parton was allowing her music to be used by a company, that hosts webpages for people looking to make money on their own, in addition to their full time jobs.

On KFI AM640's Super Hyper Local Sunday, Bryan Suits discusses why Assemblywoman Gonzalez was not very pleased with Dolly's parody.
