LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 15th consecutive day and 31st time in the past 32 days, increasing 1.1 cents to $3.487, its highest amount since March 10.
The average price has risen 25.6 cents over the past 32 days, including four-tenths of a cent on Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.1 cents more than one week ago and 25.2 cents higher than one month ago, but 9.8 cents less than one year ago.
The Orange County average price increased 1.7 cents to $3.476, its highest amount since March 7 and the 29th consecutive daily increase. It is 6.5 cents more than one week ago and 25.9 cents higher than a month ago, but 5.4 cents less than one year ago.
The rising prices are the result of some refinery trouble, the impending switch to summer-blend gasoline and the lifting of the state's stay-at-home orders that increased demand, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
