LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The Los Angeles Ethics Commission announced today that candidates for the citywide and City Council 2022 primary elections have raised more than $2.5 million and spent about $300,000.
The total contributions include:
-- $1,280,793 for odd-numbered City Council district elections;
-- $429,618 for the mayoral election;
-- $594,777 for the city attorney election; and
-- $288,367 for the city controller election.
The total expenditures include:
-- $156,743 for odd-numbered City Council district elections;
-- $24,370 for the mayoral election;
-- $129,801 for the city attorney election; and
-- $24,424 for the city controller election.
The Ethics Commission reported $0 in both contributions and expenditures for the Los Angeles Unified School District seats. The data include activity through Dec. 31, 2020, and candidates had to report their contributions and expenditures by the semi-annual reporting deadline on Feb. 1.
The next filing deadline is Aug. 2 and will cover activity from Jan. 1 to June 30.
Fundraising for citywide seats began on March 8, 2020, while odd-numbered City Council districts and even-numbered LAUSD district fundraising began on Sept. 8, 2020.
The primary election is scheduled for March 8, 2022, but the city may conform to the state's primary election date of June 7, 2022.
