Pasadena Police Report Increase in Gun Crimes, Firearms Recovered in 2020

PASADENA (CNS) - Pasadena police recovered more firearms and recorded a higher number of gun crimes in 2020 compared to the previous year, the agency reported today.

The increase in gun violence crimes increased by 85% last year over 2019, said Lt. Bill Grisafe of the Pasadena Police Department.

Police also recovered an additional 62 firearms in 2020 compared to the previous year, totaling 288 and marking a 27% increase, Grisafe said.

Of those weapons, nearly 11% did not have required serial numbers on them, he said.

“As we begin the new year, the police department will continue to work towards reducing the level of violence and minimize the number of guns on the street while addressing the other issues facing our country,'' Grisafe said in a statement, adding that effort from “many in the community'' is also needed.
