Reggae and Pop Singer Johnny Nash Dies at 80

Singer-songwriter Johnny Nash died on Tuesday afternoon at his home in Houston, Texas. He was 80 years old.

The Houston-native had reportedly been experiencing declines in his health the past few months, according to ABC13 Houston. He is survived by his wife Carli and his son Johnny.

Nash is best known for his 1972 hit song "I Can See Clearly Now," which was both written and recorded by the singer. The record sold over a million copies when it was released, and it still remains a Billboard Hot 100 Chart #1 hit song!

But Nash was more than just a 'one-hit-wonder' pop singer... He also made waves in the reggae music scene, becoming one of the first non-Jamaican singers to record reggae tracks in Kingston, Jamaica.

He also ran a recording studio in Houston with his son Johnny, called Nashco Music.
