Authorities are warning of a new text scam that claims to be about a package you're waiting for.
Hundreds of people have reported receiving a text like: "We came across a package from June owed to you. Please assume ownership and schedule for delivery here."
The link takes the user to a form, which asks for personal information like a credit card number.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office says the scammer then uses the information to "steal your identity, empty your bank account, or install malware in your phone."
The Better Business Bureau recommends ignoring the message and blocking the number it was sent from.
