No mother should should fear that her child's predator is released from the mental health hospital.
Lynn Ryener has started an online petition calling for a newly-released admitted pedophile to be forced to register as a sex offender. She's requesting Gov. Gavin Newsom intervenes and forces Smith to register.
Cary Jay Smith, 59,was released from his lengthy forced stay at a mental hospital this week, two decades after he wrote a letter about his urge to kidnap and molest a 7-year-old boy in his Costa Mesa neighborhood.Lynn Vogt, the boy’s mother, wrote in a public letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom that her son was “incredibly fortunate to not have been harmed” by Smith but that she was concerned that “other children will not be as lucky.”
Vogt also noted Smith is not being required to register as a sex offender, for reasons local law enforcement officials have yet to determine. As a result, his name is not included in the publicly accessible Megan’s Law database of sex offenders and there are no restrictions on where he can live.
So far the petition has thousands of signatures but we need your help. The more attention this gets will force Newsom to do something about this. So please share with everyone you know and social media.
