LADA Issues Warning About Public USB Charging Stations

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has issued a warning for travelers ahead of the upcoming holiday season.

Deputy District Attorney Luke Sisak is advising people to avoid using public USB charging stations at airports or shopping centers as they could be loaded with malware.

"It loads itself into the phone and can either moderate the phone in real time, sometimes download information from the phone, sometimes clone the phone completely and you don't even have to be using it."

Instead of using those stations, they advise travelers use an AC power outlet instead, take your own chargers/cables and consider buying a portable charging bank to power your devices.
