The Trump administration finally got the approval its been looking for.
A federal judge has approved the President and his team to enforce its new restriction on asylum for people crossing the U.S - Mexico border while lawsuits challenging this policy play out in court.
U.S District Judge Timothy Kelly in Washington refused to grant a temporary restraining order. Kelly says that the immigrant advocacy groups that sued had no real proof that their work would be "irreparably harmed" if the policy went into effect.
This new proposal would prevent most migrants from having the opportunity to seek asylum in the U.S if they passed through another country first.
This was put in to place to specifically target the tens of thousands of Central American adults and children who try to bypass the U.S border by crossing through Mexico first. However, it also affects asylum seeks from Africa, Asia, and South America.
