Alakazam!

That's what I imagine Penn Jillette, the one who talks in the world famous Penn and Teller duo, saying when he lost so much weight.

The Los Angeles Times reports that in 2014, Jillette was in poor health. He was losing his breath easily and had "90% heart blockage". Doctors were ready to staple his stomach so he could lose 100 pounds, but Jillette thought of another way. This other way was fasting for 23 hours a day.

In the LA Times interview, Jillette says,

"I want to see the scale go like this [point straight down]. So I went for a radical change in diet - whole-food plant-based, hard-core vegan, vegetables, no processed food, no sugar. And I limited my eating to just an hour a day, so I'm always fasting 23 hours."

He went on to say that he didn't start exercising until he lost weight because it was easier on his cardiovascular system and joints that way.

So, how effective has his weight-loss plan been?

He lost 105 pounds in three months, and has kept it off.

"...too few calories - was the norm for all of history until recently. Now, in this short blip of time, we have too many calories, and it overwhelms us, clogs our arteries, fogs our brains", says Jillette when answering if his fasting is too stressful.
