Jet Blue Offers N.Y. Pizza in 22 Hours or Less

Jet blue is flying New York Pizza's straight from NYC to LA

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - There are some who say the best pizza in the country is made in the Big Apple, but an authentic New York-style pie is pretty hard to find on the West Coast.

But for the next three days, JetBlue Airways will be delivering authentic New York pizza to the doors of select Angelenos through its ``Pie in the Sky'' program. It's not exactly 30-minutes-or-less delivery, but from Wednesday through Friday, JetBlue will fly 350 pizzas per day from Patsy's Pizzeria of East Harlem to Los Angeles International Airport.

From there, the pizzas will be taken to a final preparation area before being driven to customers lucky enough to live in an eligible delivery area. According to the airline, people hoping to get a coast-to-coast pizza delivery can place an order beginning at midnight each day.

Only 350 cheese and pepperoni pizzas will be available each day, and orders will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. L.A. residents can find out if they're in the delivery area by visiting www.jetblue.pizza and entering a ZIP code. Anyone in an eligible area can then place an order for a 16-inch cheese or pepperoni pizza. The cheese pizza costs $12, while the pepperoni pie is $15.

There is no delivery fee, and no tips are required for the drivers who deliver the pizzas, according to JetBlue.Once the pizza is ordered, customers can track the status of their pie on the airline's pizza website throughout the day. Once the pizza arrives in Los Angeles and is ready for delivery, customers will be given a delivery time between 7 and 10 p.m.

JetBlue insists the pizza will be delivered hot and ready to eat.``A designated pizzaiolo -- a specially trained pizza chef -- has overseen the logistics of the pizza's journey to ensure quality is maintained throughout the process,'' according to the airline.

``The process by which the pizza is being prepped and transported for its journey ensures that it will not only be safe, but also delicious.''To celebrate the start of the service Wednesday, JetBlue will hold a pizza party at LAX Terminal 5, dishing out authentic New York slices to travelers.
