Woman Shot In Head, Critically Wounded in Panorama City

PANORAMA CITY (CNS) - A 21-year-old woman was critically wounded this morning when she was shot in the head while driving in Panorama City in what police said was likely a gang-related shooting.

The shooting was reported at 2:35 a.m. at 7858 Van Nuys Blvd., said Sgt. Greg Bruce of the Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Division.

The woman was driving south on Van Nuys Boulevard, approaching Arminta Street, when someone fired a shot, striking her in the head, Bruce said.

The woman, who was discovered by firefighters coming from another call, crashed into a median, according to reports from the scene.

She was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills in critical condition, Bruce said.

There was no suspect information available.

Bruce said the area is infested by gang activity.
