All Lanes Re-Open After Crash Brings Traffic to Stop on 605

NORWALK (CNS) - A fiery multi-vehicle crash on the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in the Norwalk area today resulted in some injuries and blocked at least two lanes for about 90 minutes, bringing traffic to a complete stop, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 5:28 a.m. at Firestone Boulevard, said California Highway Patrol Officer Peter Nicholson. A van caught fire, but the driver got out unharmed, the CHP said.

Vehicles blocked the HOV lane and the No. 3 lane, Nicholson said. Traffic was backed up for miles.

CHP officers diverted traffic off the freeway at Firestone Boulevard while crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes were reopened by about 7 a.m., Nicholson said.
