L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti announced yesterday that we won't be running for Governor in 2018. Yoga Pants said in a series of tweets:

"I am passionate about my city and my family; both are here in Los Angeles. We have a lot of work left to do to build a stronger city, state, and nation and I know I can best build on our progress here in LA.”

We're stuck with Mayor Gridlock until 2022, giving him the chance to “carve out the things he wants to accomplish,” according to Raphael Sonenshein, executive director of the Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs at Cal State Los Angeles.

Garcetti apparently has his sights set on bigger things, like the Presidency. There's been a lot of speculation about him running in 2020. He told a Wisconsin TV station during a June visit:

“I think all the rules are off. No African American could be president until one was. No reality star could be president until one is.”

He is one smug empty suit.
