LA Zoo Proudly Shows Off Latest Broods of Poisonous Snakes

Some new snakes are slithering around the L.A. Zoo. Curator Ian Recchio told KFI's Kris Ankarlo that 61 snake babies were hatched this breeding season.

"And this year we really nailed it. We have some of the rarest snakes on the planet that gave us beautiful litters of babies, so it's something special for us."

It's the most successful snake breeding season for the zoo according to Recchio.

Part of the snake wrangler's success was due to a specially cooled room called a hibernaculum. There, temperatures and light are changed to mimic the seasons and trick the snakes into hibernation.
