Massive California Vegetable Recall Underway

Shoppers at Vons, Trader Joe's and Walmart need to be on the lookout.

A massive recall effort has been put into action by Mann Packing of Salinas.  The vegetable packing company has discovered a single case of the potentially-fatal Listeria organism within their products, and have thus issued a voluntary recall of items sold in the US and Canada with "best if used by" dates from Oct. 11 - Oct. 20.

This is not the first listeria threat this year, with 6 states reporting recalls due to the deadly organism:

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not reported any cases of illness or death in association with the tainted vegetables, and Mann Packing is working directly with the stores which carried the possibly-contaminated produce.

Who's effected?

Mann Packing provides packaged vegetables to large grocery stores as Albertsons, Vons, Trader Joe's, and Walmart.  Their products include Signature Farms and Archer Farms.

If you are a consumer who believes they have bought any of the recalled products, you should discard them immediately, or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.
