Opioid Epidemic Much Worse Than We Thought

60 Minutes and The Washington Post presented an in depth report investigating the country's devastating opioid epidemic and the results were staggering.

The Ensuring Patient Access and Effective Drug Enforcement Act of 2016 is a bill that was swiftly moved through our government and approved by senators like Joe Manchin (D-WV). He claims to be horrified that it was approved. "They made it and camouflaged it so well all of us were fooled. All of us. Nobody knew!" Sen. Manchin said. "There's no oversight now ... that bill has to be retracted ... has to be repealed."

A bill to repeal it has been introduced by Senator Clair McCaskill (D-MO). "It's not unusual for something like this to roll through without much fanfare," she said of the bill that passed.

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) has defended the original bill by deferring to the DEA, explaining that they have all the power that they need. He also claims that he was not swayed by more than $177,000 in donations to his campaign by the drug industry while pushing it through.
