Assemblyman Jim Patterson on High Speed Rail money pit

The money pit known as the California High Speed Rail, plagued by delays and rising costs, is looking at $1.7 billion in cost overruns on a 119-mile segment currently under construction in the Central Valley.

The L.A. Times reports it's a 27% jump over the original cost estimate.

Rising costs to finish the project could mean the state would have to find new sources of revenue, as Governor Jerry Brown finishes his last 15 months in office.

This project is a joke! It's way over budget, way behind schedule, and it's not even the same project that the voters fell for. It won't even be high speed rail!
