Piedmont, California Mayor Resigns After Online Comments

The mayor of Piedmont, California is out after posting what he now admits were inflammatory and insulting comments online.  Former Mayor Jeffrey Wieler resigned and released a statement of apology yesterday.  Some of the posts on Wieler's public Facebook page last week criticized Black Lives Matter, labeled liberals as "un-American," and called transgender people "mentally ill."

Before Wieler resigned, the city council had scheduled a meeting for today to consider removing him from office.
