Dog is Too Nice to be a Police Pooch

A police dog who was found to be too nice and not cut out for the job has been been given a "regal" new gig.

Gavel the German Shepard failed out of the police academy because he "did not display the necessary aptitude for a life on the front line”.

The sweet natured pup reportedly loved meeting strangers and was just considered to be just as warm as he was furry.

While he won't be taking a bite out of crime, The Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC has announced Gavel's new job: Vice-Royal Dog.

Gavel’s duties as Vice-Regal Dog consist of welcoming visitors and tour groups to the grounds of Queensland’s Government House.
