Los Angeles Police Department detectives have arrested a man they say murdered two young women in Lincoln Heights and dumped their bodies along the I-5 and Glendale freeways.
Geovanni Borjas, 32, was recently placed under surveillance and was arrested Thursday night by members of the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division with the help of uniformed Metropolitan Division officers, according to booking records and officials.
Murder charges were expected to be filed Tuesday alleging Borjas kidnapped, assaulted, then murdered 17-year-old Michelle Lozano in April, 2011 and did the same to 22-year-old Bree’Anna Guzman that December, the day after Christmas.
KFI NEWS first reported in 2014 detectives had found evidence showed both murders had been committed by the same person, but at the time the LAPD declined to provide details.
Lozano’s body was found along I-5 April 25, 2011, a day after she was last seen near Lincoln High School. Her body was wrapped in plastic and stuffed into a container, the LAPD said.
Guzman, who lived in the same area, vanished December 26. Her body wasn’t found until January 26, 2012. It had been partially buried along the interchange road between the I-5 and 2 freeways.
Borjas, according to law enforcement sources not authorized to discuss the case publicly, knew both women from the neighborhood and, “had tried to date them.”
At the time of the killings Borjas' mother lived on Johnston Street, blocks from Lincoln High School and close to Guzman’s home.
After the murders Borjas moved to Pico Rivera and had been working a clerical job at a pediatrician’s office in Santa Monica, the sources said.
