The Burbank Police Department say they've arrested a man connected to the recent ATM explosions and attempted thefts from the machines.
Police say that on April 8th, they responded to reports of a loud noise and possible explosion at the Magnolia Car Wash on Magnolia Blvd. When officers arrived, they found a stand-along ATM with significant damage (as seen in the photo above).
Officers determined that some type of explosive was used in an attempt to steal money from the machine. A later investigation turned up surveillance footage which helped authorities identify a vehicle involved in the incident which was registered to Yakov Rozenoyer, a 35-year-old man from Glendale.
Roszenoyer is considered a suspect in the investigation as well as a second ATM explosion that occurred in the city of Los Angeles last week. Rosenoyer was detained in Eagle Rock on April 13th on an unrelated charge. Police found the man's vehicle and a search of it turned up evidence linking him to the explosion. Rosenoyer was also observed to have fresh burn marks on his hands.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office has filed two counts of possessing and exploding a destructive/explosive device, two counts of felony vandalism, and one count of burglary.
Rozennoyer is currently being held without bail.
