Parents are petitioning Riverside school officials to expel a fifth-grader after a 'kill list' with his classmates' names was found. They say they will keep their children out of class if the fifth-grader returns to class.
The Press-Enterprise reports that Lake Mathews Elementary School Principal Pamela Williams wrote parents a letter explaining that the school had learned that a fifth-grader was showing classmates a 'kill list' of student names. The student was suspended for two days and will return to class today.
District officials say they're working with law enforcement, and that they did not think that anyone at the school was in danger.
Still, parents are concerned, saying that a two-day suspension amounts to a 'slap on the wrist.' Eighty-six signatures demanding the student's expulsion was sent to Superintendent David Hansen on Friday.
